Sailing Around The World
My dream of sailing around the world started in the 4th grade at North Beach Elementary in Ballard when two friends Arne and Kristen said their parents wer
e taking them out of school for a year to go sailing. I thought “Someday that is what I am going to do”. That same year when I was 10 yrs old I was inspired to create this drawing of a sailboat in art class.
Sailing has always been a big part of my life. In my childhood, I sailed on a 34′ Cal with my Brother Tom and his family. Then in high school I sailed with my cousin Scott and his dad Barney. In the 80′s I spent some time racing in Puget Sound and at the Tuesday night Duck Dodge. In my 20′s, I became skipper of a Beneteau First 46 which I delivered to San Juans and Desolation Sound/British Columbia for many years.
Along the way, I went on sailing adventures in the Caribbean, Thailand, Myanmar, Belize and British Columbia. Each sailing trip fueled my desire for more adventures on the water.
In 2009 on a trip to the Queen Charlottes in British Columbia, I realized that I wanted to figure out how to do something with my passion for sailing. It is my intention that Sailing Vagabond will allow me to make a difference by connecting people through the Global World of Sailing.
